Biography

Basia is a unique world-jazz vocalist who has sold millions of records world-wide, scoring a number of adult contemporary hits, a Top 30 pop hit with “Time and Tide” and even a #1 dance hit since her solo emergence in 1987 following a hit-making stint with the group Matt Bianco. Like such similar uniquely jazzy pop artists as Sade and Michael Franks, Basia albums often come out after a long hiatus yet always meet instant success due their passionate fan-bases and their exceptional artistry. Butterflies,Basia's first new studio album in 9 years, is certain to be an event as it delivers her inimitable, breezy fusion of jazz and Brazilian/Latin sounds topped with her beguiling vocals. Produced and written with her long-time collaborator Danny White, the album is a sparkling set of originals delivered with impeccable musicianship and production that presents her classic sound with a contemporary sheen.
