“Cook’s masterful guitar work commands center stage”
Biography
Global-guitar virtuoso, Jesse Cook has a career that has scaled the globe in search of a fusion between the art he has created “back home” and those of genres from other parts of the world. Born out of that quest has been an incorporation of flamenco and jazz with his classical roots. On his ninth studio album, One World, Cook united different styles of music; flamenco, classical, rumba, world beat, pop, blues and jazz. He cross-pollinates his music with music from different parts of the world. For his album, Nomad, he went to Cairo to record with their musicians. On The Rumba Foundation, he went to Colombia, and worked with musicians there, along with some from Cuba. On Vertigo, he went down to Lafayette, Louisiana, and recorded with Buckwheat Zydeco. The results have been considerable, with Cook garnering 11 Juno nominations and a win for his 2000 instrumental album Free Fall. As an artist, composer, and producer, Cook has embraced technology and the digital realm as a means for creating sonically diverse music. Naturally, Cook’s masterful guitar work commands center stage with its elegant balance of subtlety, in-the-moment honesty and blazing technical prowess. The perfect place to enjoy this guitarist is in the intimate setting of the Studio Theatre. Tickets for this concert may also be purchased at www.brevardmusicgroup.com.
