THE TOMMY DORSEY ORCHESTRA
Tommy Dorsey was one of the most successful band leaders of the big band era. Famous for his unmatched trombone skills, he scored hits like “Opus One,” “Marie,” and “Song of India.”
In 1940, a young Frank Sinatra joined the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. Sinatra always credited Tommy with teaching him the breath control that helped create classics such as “I’ll Never Smile Again” and “There Are Such Things.”
The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra performs at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center on Thursday, January 21, 2027, at 7:00 pm. Produced by BMG Concerts.
